Building from the Ground Up: The Vision for Dirt Lab

At Dirt Lab, Jessie Roberts, Ben Johnson and I are embarking on a mission to construct a portfolio from scratch, centred around a core challenge; to sustainably produce nutritious food and high-quality fibre.

We have an ever-evolving thesis on how we as a society can meet this challenge, underpinned by key pillars and their enablers. These pillars are not just elements of structure; they are the guiding principles that dictate every decision and action taken by the team, forming the basis of our originated ventures (missions), joint ventures, advisory work and investment community deals.

Key Pillars

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing more on each of the pillars below, talking through why we believe these are integral to our challenge and showcasing the enablers that underpin each of these;

  • Affordable and Ethical Labour

  • Transitions to Best Practice

  • Resilient Supply Chains

  • Improved Decision Making

  • Efficient Production

  • Resilient Regions

In the meantime, however, you can jump in here and start exploring our current thinking and links to portfolio companies. This map is continually being developed, based on feedback, insights, and experience and we’ll be making sure to keep you updated on key changes and portfolio plays.
